Complexity
Moodle requires MariaDB, PHP configuration, cron jobs, and plugin version management. Open edX needs MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch, and multiple microservices running in sync. We handle all of this and keep it running reliably.
Maintenance
Moodle releases major versions that require careful plugin compatibility checks before upgrading. Open edX named releases (Redwood, Sumac) involve multi-day migration procedures. One bad upgrade window and your learners can't access their courses.
